    Netgear's HR314 wireless router problem

Hi i have a problem with my router.
The router is wired to my desktop computer and I have a laptop that uses the wireless signal.

The problem is, when I turn off the wireless signal from my laptop my router seems to be working fine on my desktop and I can go online and stuff. But the moment I turn the wireless signal back on, my router just disconnects and I can't access to any website.

    I'm running on windows XP

    Thank you very much!

Check the icmp settings of windows

    Start>>Run>>firewall.cpl>>Advanced>>Click "Settings" under ICMP

the only option that should be checked is "Allow incoming echo request", hope this helps

From your wireless connection to the router, do a restart of the router without shutting anything off. This should clear up the problem. I've experienced the same problem and found it to be others getting into the wireless. Be sure to capture your MAC address for your machine, enter it into Blocking and lock out all others.

Open a cmd window and ping the router if you know the IP address.
Connect PC to the router via network cable attempt to access the net.. does it work?
While connected to the router via network cable, attempt to access the routers admin setup.. Make sure you did not somehow lockout your PC's MAC address.
