Re: What is WOT ?
WOT means Web Of Trust
WOT helps you to decide whether the site you are using is secure or not while surfing...
WOT is an extension - that is a small program - which can be added to Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Each time you do a search or check a website, WOT shows you whether the site is reliable or not.
WOT offers security(i.e decides the site is dishonest or not) based on two sources:
- Opinions same Internet
- Reputable sources such as SpamCop, hpHosts, JoeWein, DNS-BH, PhishTank and others who are specialized.
By combining these different sources, WOT can assess the reliability of the site and inform you.

Re: What is WOT ?
You can be protected from an incredible amount of malicious site by installing WOT with your internet browser...
- Faux-antivirus (WinAntivirus2007, etc.).
- Faux-antispyware
- Fake versions of software (modified version of eMule, CCleaner, Shareaza ...)
- Scam sites (imitation sites for banks, online auction, etc.).
- Website scam (pyramid schemes, fake jobs, software sales when they are free, etc.).
- Website contains viruses
- Site disseminating software containing Trojan horses
- Rogue traders
- Site that you are trying to steal your passwords, MSN, PayPal, Dofus, Habbo, and so on.
- etc..
NOTE - Keep in mind that WOT is not infallible! It will help you improve your security, but does not guarantee that you will avoid 100% of rogue sites.

Re: What is WOT ?
Installing Web of Trust...
If you are using Firefox, follow the steps -
- Go to "Tools"> "modules"
- Enter "WOT" and press ENTER
- Click on "Add to Firefox"
- Then "Install Now"
- And "Restart Firefox"
- Once Firefox has restarted, click "I Agree"
- You can skip the next screen: WOT is already active and protects you. Simply close the screen
- That's it. WOT is installed and you will not have to redo the operation.
