    Problem with Router

    Hello Friends,

I'm using DSL to access my internet connection. I'm planning to keep all my connection as same, and it would be easy by just swapping the modem. But when i try to hook it up through router it doesn't show any connection on it. But when i try to connect it directly to the modem and computer it works fine. Can any one tell me that how do i check the settings of my router, in order to get connected to my internet? Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: Problem with Router

So here's the best advice for most home router problems.

    1. Perform a Power Reset by unplugging the power to both your router and PC
    2. While having the power unplugged for 30 Seconds, Leave. Grab your favorite drink.
    3. Reconnect the power plug and try to connect to the network again
    4. If the problem still persists, reset the Router to Factory default settings, usually a small button in back of the router
    5. Simple solution but people tend to forget about it and overwork the problem creating an endless cycle of grief. So just Reset and end the pain.
    6. If you're still having problems and your router was working fine before, you may need a firmware upgrade.

Disable APIPA on All but One Network Adapter

    1. Use Registry Editor to create the following registry key, where adapter name is the name of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configured adapter where you want to disable APIPA:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\adapter name
    2. Add the following value to this key:
    Value name: IPAutoconfigurationEnabled
    Value type: REG_DWORD
Value in hexadecimal: 0 (A value of 0 disables APIPA support on this adapter)
NOTE: If the IPAutoconfigurationEnabled entry is not present, a default value of 1 is assumed, which indicates that APIPA is enabled.

    3. After you make this change, restart your computer.

    Re: Problem with Router

Please try to power off the modem and router for at least 30 sec. Now power up the modem & give time up to 45 sec for warming up. After that plug in the router to modem. Now see that the problem still arrives or not.

Unplug the cable modem. Ensure that the cable from the modem is plugged into your router. Turn on your router & plug in your modem back. Now your router resets and detects a new MAC address.
