    Sharing folders in Windows 7

I would share folders on my network when my brother will come so he could easily fill up quickly files on my computer, but already there was all wrong.

In XP and Vista was able to select a folder and sidestep Share and bring the strike if it wanted. Fast and easy. But this simple method seem to have removed in Windows 7, I could never work when there are settings here or there.

In the end, I could start an FTP server on my computer which logged into. Should it be so difficult to share a folder in the LAN?

We both run Windows 7 build 7057 ... if it has no significance.

For all computers that you want to share with running Windows 7, it is well just to activate the Home Group.

If Xp, sharing Vista computers is easy. Right click on what you want to share and select Share with ... -> Specific people -> then Everyone in the dropdown list. Then select the type of permissions "Everyone" should have. Click "Share" and that's it.

I would like to share some folders/drives between the two systems. I can get the read access working fine, but no matter how I configure the permissions (even explicitly granting User Name full access) I always get a "Permission Denied" when trying to copy or delete to the shared folder.

    Have you tried this:
Open the Control Panel - Network and Sharing Centre.
Over on the left, click "Change Advanced sharing settings"
    Choose "Home or work"
Work through the options, giving the appropriate permissions.
I would suggest, for the test, you turn off the password option.
I have a fairly open Lan system around the house. One of the computers is using XP. These are my settings. - I'm assuming you have set up the common workgroup?

You can simply share any of a specific folder for a specific person. There is not a big deal for the same. Simply select the last option from the above and go on. It will be better if you encrypt the same with a password and let the person know about the same. You can get some more help from these posts:
