    IE7 & Network Problem

I've made a simple network between two computers one has windows Vista Ultimate OS and the other has Windows XP SP2 the network works fine

I use a fax/modem card to connect to internet using not shared dilaup connection on both computers

my problem is with IE7 that on the Vista Computer When The Local Area Connection is Enabled It can't Find any web site at all but when I provide it with the IP of the site it opens it but can't when I use the URL of the site

any one can help me using IE7 with the network connection enabled?

I'm using FireFox as a Temporary Solution but I didn't Like it at all

So in short you are using two computers (Vista and XP) and unable to open any site with URL (which opens with the IP address of the site)! That seems to be strange and new problem to me.

However, do you get any error message when you enter the URL of the site (lets say www.techarena.in, for instance)? What is displayed on your IE7 browser when you enter the site URL?

    thank you for quick reply

it gives me a message that the url can't be found

some friend told me that's a DNS problem and he does not know how to solve it and advised me to use FireFox Instead

You've reset the modem and/or router and restarted the affected computer? Leave the modem and router powered down for 4 or 5 minutes.

    Try resetting the DNS cache:
Start -> Run -> cmd [enter]
    ipconfig /flushdns
    [enter] or [OK]
Then clear the Temporary Internet Files and restart.

    Hope this helps.

That shouldn't be the problem of DNS, I suppose.

I think that your TCP/IP stack is affected (either corrupted or lost) which happens sometimes due to some virus/spyware/adware activity. It seems to me more of corrupted then lost. The first thing you can do is repair Windows installation. Once done, you can do a complete virus scan of your computer with a good (well trusted) antivirus software.
