Airport extreme is a hardware firewall?

    From the official site:

    Barring the network door.

AirPort Extreme includes a built-in firewall that creates a barrier between your network and the Internet, protecting your data from malicious Internet attacks. When you set up the base station, the firewall is automatically turned on to keep the bad guys out. For computers with a cable or DSL modem, using AirPort is actually safer than being directly connected to the modem.
    ---------------

Fastweb and using this router, it means that you can safely disable, in Windows, the firewall?
I noticed that the Windows firewall active, shipping was dreadfully slow dns resolution was slow going in the ftp timeout, which did not happen by connecting directly.
If you can disable it if given the characteristics of the Airport, and the NAT fastweb we can be certain.
    please reply thank you .

if a product that transformed the external hd into real nas then you made a good choice, if otherwise only a product with nat just any router wi-fi

the nat is a good ally but can not replace a good software firewall (like Comodo Firewall-or OnlineArmor-free, or that of PC-Tools) and not very good, it refers to the integrated in windows, which offer a full control of your PC is as connections are established as interaction between processes and changes to the system.

avira is an excellent anti-virus, the same can be said for Comodo-Firewall, ,
if you just spend the best to invest for solo antivirus version that gives you PremierEdition signatures spyware / adaware and scan web form, more and more useful.
