Data synchronization over the Internet between Two pc's

    Hello
I have two computers that I want themselves to exchange data over the Internet. This is a Windows 2000 and Windows XP based PC. Both have static IP, and I have control over routers and NAT tables.

I assume that I should have addressed in any SW that runs via SSH or any of the machines will act VPN server or whatever.

The scenario is pretty much equal Rsync functionality for Linux.

Is there anyone who has good opinions on which option should I choose?

Just because it sounds very simple.

Imagine the Internet as your private but somewhat slower local area network. That it is in principle.

You have 2 routers, one at each end, connecting the 2 machines via the Internet. You have fixed IP's on both your machines.

you can simply forward all ports (TCP & UDP) to the respective internal machines fixed IP addresses. If you do, you can work with the machines, just as if they were sitting in a LAN.

So missing you is just to put a firewall on, so there is only open to other's WAN IP address of the router. So it is as safe as transferring data between two machines in a LAN.

Just read your proposal as a little dangerous ? And I do not want to buy a firewall, when I now have NAT on both routers. sorry... Furthermore, I have just discovered that we do not have static IP on one router, I do not therefore believe your solutions . The only ports that I want to open WAN-> LAN are:

    Router 1:
    Fixed IP
Port 80 that XP PC also operates Web server using WAMP
    WinXP PC
    "server" Synchronization "server"

    Router 2:
    Dynamic IP
    None gates open
    Win2k PC
    Synchronization "client"
