In short - just right click on the network icon next to the clock. Then choose "connect to a network".

Re: How to manually connect to a wireless network in Windows Vista

If your network does not appear in the Connect window to a network (fig. 1) make sure your computer is within range of the network (less than 46 meters inside and 92 meters out for 802.11b equipment and 802.11g, and less than 15 meters to 30 meters inside and outside the material for 802.11a). That the router or access point is activated (if you have access) and the switch to wireless for your PC is turned on. If despite this, still point of the network, add a hand.

To add a network, follow these steps:
  1. Open through Vista logo button Start Menu Connect To.

  2. Click below on the left menu "Set up a connection or network"

  3. Now select the option Manually connect to a wireless network .

  4. You must enter the name of your wireless network (SSID), type of security (WEP, WPA, etc..), The type of encryption and security key. Then click Next

  5. Vista will then announce that your Wi-Fi has been added. To test the connection, click on Connect to. ...

If you go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > on the left side of the window click Manage network Connections you should see your wireless network, double click it, click Wireless Profiles > Security and there you can manually setup your wireless security options
