How to Remove more than one Active network connection

I wanted to make setup of VPN on my home PC, and I have Wi-Fi connectivity at my place, with the 512 Kbps speed, I found that there is low browsing speed at my end so i checked the Active Network connection in my computer and it shows Two network connection, and i have to stop it or remove it from my network places.

I did this by turning off the auto connect but now i can't remember the exact steps i took. i noticed that it would always reconnect when i hadn't asked it too, so i figured maybe it was auto dialling whilst i was connected and causing the problem. there's a box that pops up on when you start windows which asks you if you want to connect, or which service to connect to. i think i did it from there. opened the options and chose 'never connect', and when i want to connect i do it manually from the 'connect to' in the start menu.
sorry i can't be more accurate. hope this helps
