Unable to connect to the Internet with wireless network

Hi,

I have laptop with the Wi-Fi service enabled, my problem is that even though Wi-Fi is enabled with my laptop I am unable to connect to the Internet,Wi-Fi router shows the excellent signal network but when I double click on IE to open any program it does not seem to allow me to browse the internet.

what may be the problem, Is am I wrong with the connectivity or any other problem.

sounds like you need to config your nic. go to TCP IP settings and check to see if you have an ip. if not issue one manually. not sure what ip netgear uses...probably starts with 192.x.x.x. you should set the last number to 100 or 101. so it looks like 192.x.x.100. the x's should have a number in them. hope this helps.

I have also tried disabling the firewall and that hasn't made any difference either. The frustrating thing is that my laptop is getting a connection via my router it just won't allow me to access the Internet. I figure it must be a configuration issue but I just cannot work out what. Especially as I have ensures the SSID, WEP key etc are the same. I have also gone into my router settings and added the MAC address to allow the laptop to access the internet rather than block it.......

Any other ideas, what am I doing wrong?

have you tried uninstalling the adapter in Device Manager then reboot the system and let the Windows to find it itself it will install it automatically.

I had problems too with my laptop and I-phone. I had the security set too high. There are diff settings. Try others.
