AOL popup update ,suspicious anotify.exe

i experience Annoying AOL 'Critical Update' popup problem. it keeps displying on the desktop.my automatic Updates is configure to 'off'. i try some other setting like AOL Notification Update History, windows configuration but It continue with displaying update.i think it is problem due to virus or any suspicious activity so in search i have got anotify.exe application in AOL locations and inside registry.can any one tell me what is this ?is this any problematic file and how can i turn this popup off please reply me.thank you.

i think you should uninstall application aol and delete that file. its still not clear that how much anotify.exe is harmful so can not say much about it .

File anotify.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files". it approximate size on Windows XP is 50736 bytes.File anotify.exe is a file without information about the maker of this file. The program has no visible window. It is a Verisign signed file. The file has a digital Signature. It is not a Windows core file. Therefore the technical security rating is 27% dangerous.

the anotify.exe is regarded to AOL Active Update Popup.so it regularly reminds you as there are updates available for your AOL software so program is the popup program and prompts you to install them. so not harmful but if irritating you just delete it .

the way to stop this popup is through renaming this program file for AOL software update.this program is child process of the AOL software you will need to rename it my searching for ANOTIFY.EXE in Windows Explorer and renaming it, for example to something like ANOTIFY.EXE.NO. This program normally uses from 1Mb to 18Mb of memory.
