How to install Linksys WMP54G and WUSB54G Wireless card on Vista
1) WMP54G and WUSB54G are based on chipsets made by Ralink Technology so we go to their support page and download the RT61+RT2500 drivers if you have Linksys WMP54G and RT2500USB if you have the USB version WUSB54G
The drivers were released this month so support for Vista is there.
2) Next we download the Windows XP drivers from Linksys (or use the ones in the driver CD)
3) run the Ralink installer. When it's done Windows Vista may ask you for drivers for your "Network Controller". If that happens point Windows Vista to the old Windows XP drivers.
Enjoy Wireless networking with your Linksys wireless card in Windows Vista thanks to Ralink Technology Corp!
Well go to device manager, other devices where you can see yellow exclamation point on Linksys wireless adapter…right click on it and simply update the drivers, it should install the drivers. Still if you are facing the same problem in that case you may need to uninstall WLAN software completely from computer, start >> program >> wireless g USB adapter >> uninstall and restart the computer…go to device manager and try updating drivers and use windows wireless software to manage wireless connection, check whether it works or not and let me know.
1.) In Device Manager, disable and then uninstall your adapter.
2.) download and SAVE to your desktop the 64 bit version of the rt2500usb driver from Gigabyte at http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/C...ctName=GN-WBKG
(actual link so you can copy and paste if you like)
It will be in a .zip file with about 37 other files you wont need and can delete later.
3.) Unzip to your desktop. DONT WORRY. It will all be in a folder so you wont have 40 loose files on your desktop.
4.)Now back in Device Manager, click on the "scan for hardware changes" and when the window pops up to update software for your wireless adapter you will want the option to browse your computer for the software.
Navigate to the folder you just downloaded on your desktop.
"Desktop > comm_wbkg_v234005 > GN-WBKG_64 > drivers > WINX64" and click OK. Windows will install the drivers and you are set. (dont pay any attention to the name windows uses for your adapter)
5.) Connect to your network.
6.) Copy or move the "WINX64" folder to another location so you have it if you need it.
7.) DELETE all the crap you just downloaded from your desktop.
Have a great day and HAPPY SURFING!!!
