Go to your control panel, then to device manager. expand the network devices catagory and then right click on your network adapter. click propertied and then click on the advanced tab. go down to TCP Checksum offload and disable them, both IPv4 and IPc6.

Try to reset using "netsh winsock reset" command. Or check this article:

Windows might be turning off the network adapter to save power. Turn off the power-saving option in the network adapter's properties :

    1. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
    2. Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. On the Networking tab, click Configure.
    4. On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK.

Re: Windows Vista drops Internet connection

I was having the same problem, and all I had to do was update my Network Adapter.

To do this I proceeded through the following steps...and so far so good, haven't been dropped yet!

    1. In "Control Panel" select "Device Manager"
    2. Select the first device under "Network Adapters"
    3. Click on the "Driver" tab and select "update driver"
    4. You can either choose "Search automatically" which will allow windows to find the driver update online and install it automatically, or "Browse my computer" to do it manually
    5. If you receive the message that the driver is already up-to-date, this is not the network adapter that is causing you problems, so move onto the next one listed and go through the steps again.
