Re: Unable to save a document over a network

    hi,
I continually receive the above error messages when I try to save them to the briefcase. A fewer number of times I receive the message, when I try to open said files, that the file is in use by another user and application.

I've tried to replicate this problem on another vista/office 2007 machine
but was unsuccessful - the usb flashdrive and office worked without a problem.

    hi,
Use a Mapped Drive when you are trying save folder on network.
If you cannot save the file to a network drive or share as usual, try to save the file by using a mapped drive. To do this, follow these steps:
Right-click Start and then click Explore on the shortcut menu.
On the Tools menu, click Map Network Drive.
In the Map Network Drive dialog box, select the drive letter and network location (drive or share) to which you want to connect, and then click OK or Finish.
In Microsoft Word, click Save As on the File menu.
In the Save As dialog box, change the Save in box to the mapped drive or share that you created in step 3, and then click Save.

This likely means that there are file ownership or permissions issues with the file(s) you are trying to change. You will need to make sure that the file is writable (644 for .html or .htm) and owned by your user. You should contact your web host and have them verify your file permissions and ownership if you do not have shell access.

    hi,
I had the same problem....could not modify a WORD file from a USB drive or Jump drive. Solvedit by formatting all my USB drives in NFTS instead of FAT or FAT32. Hope this helps.
