Security Warning while browsing

Hello
Recently I had to repair XP & reload lots of softwares. Among the problems occurring since, is one when I am IE-ing. From very non-threatening news sites, when I go from page to page I get the "Security Warning" box (image is in the attached Word document). I OK it but it keeps popping up as I click from page-to-page. I suspect it's a McAfee message. I have XP home w/SP2, IE6, McAfee and Ad-Aware. Thanks in advance for thoughts on getting this to stop.

Re: Security Warning while browsing

Under Tools, Internet Options, Security, go into Trusted Sites, and delete the shdoclc.dll entry.

Also, at some point update from IE6 to IE7. IE6 has security issues.

Re: Security Warning while browsing

The only entries in my Trusted Sites are two McAfee, 1 TurboTax, and "about:internet."

Not good. You may want to use regedit, and search the registry for the string. It's in the Trusted Sites area, but from what you're stating, something has poked it directly into the registry rather than as an entry in IE. The only other place this can be done is in the local group policy (you will still find the entry in the registry though).

Re: Security Warning while browsing

You can either allow the active content for the current session, or permanently change your security settings to allow the tutorial and Help system to display.

Depending on your network security settings, you may not be able to allow active content to display. Contact your network administrator for assistance.
Allowing access for this session

If a security alert appears:
  1. Click on the error message.
  2. In the pop-up menu, click Allow Blocked Content to display Help.
  3. Click OK when the prompt that asks if you are sure you want to let this file run active content.

Changing the browser settings

If your organization’s security standards permit, you can permanently allow active content, such as the Help system.
  1. In the browser, select Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Access the Advanced tab.
  3. Under Security options section, check Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.
  4. Click OK.
