First of all, have you tried the latest firmware? Its on the gigafast site.
Since you are familiar with Linux servers, you must already know that this router runs Linux and you can run commands via the syscmd.asp page. On the page, you can run iptables commands to see if it acutally did set up the port forwarding. If you are not familiar with it, type in "iptables -L" when you set up the forwarding and post the results here.

As for the WEP problem, I suggest reading up on how to secure your network. WEP works 100% with this router, you most likely have done something wrong. Set the 128bit WEP ascii key to some 12 character string and trying the same thing with Windows; if it does not work, it is most likely a Windows problem.

To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address.
When you are finished setting up a static ip address, Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

Click the NAT link near the left side of the page.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.

Click the Add button near the center of the page.

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Echolink requires you to forward the 5198-5200 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Forwarding menu and then click Apply.

Heey, I'm trying to port forward right now for that modem but I don't know how for these ports. I'm trying to port forward these following for a game.
    TCP ports: 27230-27235
    UDP ports: 22001-22999
If you could show me that would help so much

If you do not know how to open the TCP/UDP ports through your Router configurations please contact your Router manufacturer for a walkthrough on the process. If this does not solve your problem, try disconnecting your router and seeing if you can connect directly. If you can, then there is a problem with your router configuration.
