To Do and Not To Do - Computer Security

    Hi Folks,
Today i would share some security tips with you all. Security is of utmost important for anyone using PC specially those connected on the Net or anyother network ....believe in the words "No Compromise".....
Here are some dos and don’ts with regard to computer security:
    • Unreliable sites strictly no.... problem is we tend to visit sites which give out content for free whether it is free music, free screensavers, free software programs etc. When we download stuff from the internet, we can never be sure what kind of malicious tools will get downloaded along with the content we are downloading...... very risky

    • Use a reliable computer antivirus program and be sure to renew its subscription before it expires. Don't ignore the renewal reminders. Keep your antivirus definitions up to date. If you cannot remember, set automatic updates and make sure that you set these scheduled updates at least once in a week.

    • Pay attention to security warnings. When you computer gives you a security warning make sure to read the security warning in full and try to attend to the issues as a first thing.

    • Before opening attachments run virus check. It would just take few seconds to run a quick security check on the attachments that you get via mail. It will go a long way in protecting you from unnecessary security issues.
Dont ignore this its very vital ... you dont know you may get attacked by virus from your best friend's mail.

    • "SSL certificate" very important, whichever site you shop make sure it has an SSL certificate. For safe credit card transaction make sure the site has SSL certificate.

    • Never click on links that are unknown. When you get mails from unknown sources, never click on links that come in those mails. Always type the URL in the address bar, because the link may not always take you to the right place. It may read something but the landing page will be something different.

    • Remember to regularly scan your system for virus and spyware. Also know your system well, its helps you when your system is acting weird.......

Always try to buy a genuine original software they don't cost a lot, i think they are affordable .... you can spend some extra money now instead of wasting it on the repairs later.. We had such a problem in our classes we bought pirated CD and then paid the price for not buying original ..... later we contributed as a group and bought one ..... Be careful
