    vlc not really multiple

    hello to all
    we have two pc without a firewall connected on a tuned-V5 mode router and the same version of VLC (9.4). The PC1 is pc2 ethernet and wireless.

    If one uses the multi pc so good, but as soon as the second wants to use it has also restricted to the chain regardless of first on the PC and not to others. Even if it is turned on the TV in the living room with the difference that TV seems to have priority over the choice of string and can "take over".

    Is this a story of ports or perhaps debit? Flow testing generally gives the results of 3.5 to 4 Mbit / s.
    thank you

    How to play multiple instances of VLC

    In version .8.5 it was easy to have multiple instances of VLC playing each with its unique stream of data.

    In version .8.6x playing multiple VLC instances and different streams in each is as easy as clicking Settings -> Preferences... (note this does not exist on the Mac version):

    Advanced (tick Advanced options to see all the options available)
    Allow only one running instance (untick it)
    This allows users to use more than one VLC player at a time. Press Save and restart VLC. Once you've done the above you should be able to play as many VLC instances and video or audio files as you like.

    Re: vlc not really multiple

    VLC probed to be the best streaming audio player. If a server isn't responding, VLC is the only app that doesn't freeze. Both Totem and Audacious become completely unresponsive when the streaming server doesn't respond, and it's really annoying.

    So many media players on linux, and I can't find one that does this simultaneously:

    * Reads .pls playlists.
    * Not hanging when a streaming server doesn't answer.
    * Has an option to disallow multiple instances, and instead of that, appends to current playlist.
    * Has equalizer support.

    Any alternatives?
