AD-HOC between XP host and VISTA client

Hello everyone,

I am sorry to bother you with this, i have seen that there are a few posts out there, but after a week of reading, and trying almost everything that is written, i am about to through my laptop out of the window, so if anyone is kind enough, PLEASE HELP!

So here is the problem, i have an XP desktop, on which i have 3 external HDD's connected. I also have a VISTA laptop, from which i would like to be able to see the HDD's using and AD-HOC wireless network.

Now i would also like to be able to connect to the internet through my laptop, in the same way, but that is secondary at the moment. (the desktop connects to the internet through ethernet)

I have created an AD-HOC network, having the XP as the HOST, and the VISTA as a CLIENT. All firewalls are switched off, all options i can see about sharing are On (ex. vista's Shared Folders options etc)

I connect to the netwrok through my Vista client, and it seems to connect. Though it says 'Network not recognised'. I go into the 'Show full map' and i can see both the Vista and the XP, but i cannot click on the XP or do anything to it.

At this point, my XP host, going into "My Network Places->Microsoft Windows Network->Workgroup", can see my VISTA client, and i can access all the shared files etc.

On the contrary, from my VISTA client, i cannot see my XP host in any way! (and of course i cannot connect to the internet)

Can Anyone help me? I have no idea what is going wrong!!!

Please let me know if you need more info, and what kind. Here are the IPConfig from both:

Re: AD-HOC between XP host and VISTA client

Use a simple Ethernet switch at the end of the cable that connects to the one, problem solved.
