Gigabit router or Gigabit switch

I am using Linksys WAG354G for my ADSL connection. But my router dies when a lot of users are using as the same time. We have 15 computer at my place, all are connected to it through a 10/100Mbps switch.

I have decided to change my things to get rid of this situation. But I am a bit confused. What should I buy a Gigabit router or a Gigabit switch to take advantage of the speed.

Can anyone suggest me? Also do any one have any idea about the best model in the market?

A Gigabit router will not make much difference to you. ADSL connections can't run anything like Gigabit speeds (not even 100 Megabit).

Thus, if you are trying to gain Gigabit speed at your place then buy a Gigabit Switch (with at least one 100MBit port or autosense MBit/GBit) and connect it to your Linksys router. This would probably be a cheaper option and would certainly be easier to configure.

However, if you do go for the router as you suggest, you're going to end up with two routers, firewall, NAT device, DNS and DHCP that are going to be wasted because you have to disable in one or other device.

Linksys SRW2024 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch. Go for it. We use it in our office with 20 computers. It works perfectly fine without any problem.

Go for D-Link DGS-1016D 16-Port 10/100/1000Base-T Unmanaged Standalone Gigabit Switch. It is simpler to use and is easily installable on desktop and provides a secure store-and-forward switching scheme.
