WiFi card for a laptop

I have a friend who has a laptop that a few years (5 years if my memory's are good) and it has no wireless chip. He therefore wishes to buy one with a good scope to connect the box to his girlfriend and I must confess that I do not know much about it.

Its Mobile has a port PCMI.
So if you have a model to advise me or even a brand or standards that would be really super.

I advised of such D-Link or Linksys. As I see not against the interest of 108 Mbps on a box of an ISP that can anyway establish a connection in 54 Mbps.
