Tracing Ip's back from my Lappy to the net

I've been out of the game for a while so bare with me...

I need to find the IP address of the router my machine is running though because i do. I'm in a new office and a new job so it's not as easy as i would like it to be.

I'm pretty sure there is a command I can run in cmd prompt to trace the ip's between my machine and the net... tracert or something.... i just can't for the life of me work it out. Help appreciated.

Which router are you using? However you can find the IP address of the router simply by going to Network Connections.

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection -> Under Support Tab, you can see the "Default Gateway" which is nothing but your router's IP address (if you are connected to router either through a switch or directly).

However, if you are using access point then you can also use tracert to get the router ip address.

Go to Run (Windows key + R) and type "cmd". Now the command prompt will come, type here "tracert any_site_name". It will give you all the ip address between your computer and the site.

    e.g. tracert yahoo.com

    Hope this will help you.
