After inserting that network card in the PC, only install the drivers and then connect the cable to the PC. This will detect the network card and will be shown in the device manager.

Affter installing the network card, you go to control panel and select performance and maintenance, systems then, after hardware, later device manager, then network adapter, click +, then right click, properties, driver update, Otherwise, next, and then following up finish.

    I hope that helps.

What exactly did you want to do?
To insert a new network card (which I imagine is pci) your operating system must recognize it and will ask the drivers to install either with the card auto alone or if the windows are registered.

To check if your network card is recognized or not,
    Open the control panel
    then the icon sitemap.
    in select the Hardware tab
    there select Device Manager.
and you see the components of your PC.

If any time with a yellow symbol means that there is a conflict with the
device. This is not your network card looking for any component with the yellow symbol. Select properties and check message said that if controller installation is required. Everything except that will be proper. Dont change anything in that or you will mess up with settings.

After installing a network card, a normal distinct role is to configure the network settings. It will be like adding computers in the network, network printer config, internet files. These and almost all settings is done through 'My network Places.'
