AVG 8 causes Firefox to crash

I have a problem whenever I use google to search for some news or reviews or anything with the firefox browser while there is some scanning going on by AVG, firefox will shut down or even at time will crash or will give the not responding message problem? Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Is there any solution for it?

There might be an update that might fix this issue for sure.

The link scanner that is used by AVG is the problem. This feature can also be turned off or at the reinstall you can untick this option, or otherwise AVG will just distract you always. The problem with the link scanner is that it scans all the web page including every link on it & if that web page has more than 200 links then it will take too long & while waiting firefox times out.

I am an AVG user too & am also facing this problem with IE7 on my windows xp system. It just crashes Internet Explorer like in firefox after installing AVG 8 Link Scanner. So from the menu I took unticked the link scanner & now IE seems to work again.

Run the installation with the following command line to remove the link scanner from your installation:

    c:\avg_free_stf_*.exe /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSurf /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch
    Thanks to Dslreports.
