XP computer is unable to access the router

I am having a network of 2 computers with one desktop computer running Win XP Pro and the laptop running Win Vista 32bit. All of them are connected to the Linksys WRT54GS router.

My problem is that the desktop computer is unable to access the router. I tried to open the router's home page (typing 192.168.1.1) but it gives me an error message as Gateway Timeout: Server unreachable. However the Vista laptop can access the router without any problems.

Have you tried pinging the router ip? Also try 'tracert' ip and make sure you can see the router. If not then reboot your router.

Also make sure that the IP Address of the router is not one in the banned list of your software Firewall or is not blocked by your web browser on XP machine! And try using some different Ethernet cable to see if it is the cable issue. Or change the LAN Port on the Router to see whether the port itself is dead.

I was able to see the router while using the ping and tracert option.

However, as I am not using any software firewall, there is no point of blocking it. I checked in web browser settings and my router ip was not listed in banned list. I checked with different cable or different port but all in vain.
