Slow speed on my Wireless internet connection

Hi guys
I have 3 mb internet speed. I get At the most of 90kbps of speed on my wireless connection while using my wired router connection i get 250kbps speed now why is this difference? I am using Xp Pro. Please help me

What about encryption?
Is it enable? If it is then it is the cause of slow speed i guess. But i suggest you to keep encryption enable though.

As an experiment...

why not strip the encryption out of your router, and see if that speeds up your connection???

Thanks for the reply, although I'm not exactly clear on what you mean by stripping the encryption. Now I have connected to the internet with the encryption turned on & with it turned off, and the speed is the same both ways. Is that what you're referring to, turning off the encryption. If you could clarify your idea to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

From the description of the speeds varying, you have signal interference or simply weak signals, that's one thing I'd be trying to correct. Anything that increases the signal strength and allows you to get faster wireless connections should help.

1)above it
2)below it
3)same floor as
how many and what type of walls between pc and router.
