Share a harddrive within the network

Can anyone help? I want to setup a harddrive in the network and allow others to access the files and folders within the network. How can I do that?

Hello.

For sharing a harddisk, you need to first right click on it (in My Computer), select "sharing and security". Then under "Network Sharing and Security" select "Share this folder on the network" and choose a name for the drive. You can also select "Allow network users to change my files" if you want. Then go to the other computers on the network, right click on My Network Places and choose Map Network Drive. Choose a letter for your drive and enter its location on the network in the form of: \\Server\ShareName

Thanks for your prompt reply but I am still having a problem. It says the network path was not found. I have used Z as the drive letter and Music as the share name. I have typed \\server\Music in the location and got the error.

Have you tried pinging your server from that pc? Are you using "server" as the name of the pc containing the "Music"? Go to your server and check the name of the server if you don't know and also the ip address of it.

OOPS the name was not "server". I corrected it and now I am able to share the drive without any difficulty.
