Office 2007 crashes on 'open/save as' file dialog...

I am having some issues with Office 2007 on Windows XP with SP2 computer. If I want to open or save as a file in Office application, then it hangs up and will not respond at all. The application fails to load the open/save dialog as well. I think office will not use the win32 common dialog as the issue only happens to the office 2007 applications like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc, and no other software is affected. Any ideas how to fix this thing? Thanks.

This problem occurs by an incompatibility issue between Office 2007 Service Pack 1 and Visual Studio 2008 Pro. Incase you are using both these products together then try to do the following:

First of all try to uninstall Office 2007 including all updates and service packs and then delete the whole office program folder.
After that you will need to deactivate Windows Auto update.
Now you have to install Office without SP1.

Try it out and see if that works.

Even I was having the same problem and I had a mapped network drive in Windows Explorer that was not active any more. So after I disconneted this network drive, then the problem got resolved for me. Try it and see if that makes any difference to you as well.

Thanks for the reply, but I dont have the same issue as I dont have any unavailable network drives mapped. So far, the Office version that I am using is working fine as long as I dont install any service packs.
