| Office 2007 crashes on 'open/save as' file dialog...
Hello, I have some trouble with Office 2007 on my Windows XP Pro SP2 machine. Whenever I want to “open” or “save as” a file in a office application the application hangs-up and does not respond at all. The application fails to load the “open/save as” dialog. I guess office does not use the win32 common dialog as the problem only happened to office 2007 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), no other software is affected. I already installed Office from scratch and updated all service packs for Office and Windows, but no success. There are no add-ins loaded and it also happened after starting the application with command line option “/a”. My hair starts to turn gray, so any suggestion that saves me form reinstalling the whole machine is appreciated. Thanks, Thomas PS: Sometimes I dream of free software. Free as in free of errors… Damn it, who needs free beer? :O) |

Hi, In case someone else has simmilare problem. This may caused by an incompability issue between Office 2007 Service Pack 1 and Visual Studion 2008 Professional Edition. If you use those products together try the following: 1) Uninstall Office 2007 including all updates and service packs. Delete the whole office program folder. 2) Deactivate Windows Autoupdate. 3) Install Office without SP1. So far this worked for me. But I dont know the real cause of this problem. Regards, Thomas |

Hi, I had the same issue and the problem was that I had mapped network drive in Windows Explorer which was not active any more. Disconnecting this network drive solved the problem. I hope that helps. Thank you Alex for your reply! I don't think we have the same problem as I do not have any unavailable network drives mapped. So far my office works fine as long as do not install any service packs. Any way thanks for your post.
