Microsoft Office Document Imaging "File" Menu is Broke?

I have recently formated my PC, Re-Installed Win XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro.
Then, downloaded all updates for both, including Service Pack 3 for Office
    2003.

Now, I have a LOT of documents in the *.MDI format, and need to print
selected pages from them. The only way to print selected pages is from the
FILE menu, then PRINT. Using the Print Icon in the toolbar doesn't work, as
it sends the entire document to my default printer with no options for
    selecting pages.
Problem is, when I select the FILE menu, I get an error and it says
"Microsoft Office Document Imaging must close, sorry for inconveniance, do
you want to send an error report?"

My wife's PC has same OS and same version of Office (except hers is small
bus. eddition, mine is pro.) but I get the same error on her PC.

Only way I can print selected pages now is to sellect all from the edit
menu, then COPY PICTURE, then paste it into word. This is VERY cumbersome and
I would like to know if anyone knows why it is behaving like this.

I believe it is because of either a Windows update OR Office 2003 Service
Pack 3 but Service Pack 3 can NOT be removed from add remove programs in
    control panel.

    Anybody have any ideas?
I'm at a loss here. I did try to do a repair using The "Detect and Repair"
in the HELP menu, but all it did was dis-associate *.MDI files from Microsoft
    Office Document Imaging.

I would really like to get this resolved.

Ok so I'm trying to add to this so it will go back to the top in case someone
missed it. I still have the same problem, and have not found a fix yet.

RE: Microsoft Office Document Imaging "File" Menu is Broke?

OK, so I found the soloution (I think).
I opened Microsoft Office Document Imaging then opened the Tools menu, then
Options. In the Options window, I selected the "Other" tab and clicked on the
    "Reset" button under Default Program.

Then, i don't know if this made a difference, i closed Microsoft Office
Document Imaging and opened windows explorer, navigated to an "*.MDI" file,
right clicked it and chose "open with" "choose a program" then browsed to the
Microsoft Office Document Imaging executable found in the Office folder
(don't remember the exact location) and selected that executable to open
*.MDI files and checked the box "always use this program to open this file
    type".

Now, finally, the "File" menu in Microsoft Office Document Imaging is
    working again!

Why it got "broke" in the first place is most likely due to the Office 2003
Service Pack 3 "security fix" having to do with not letting Microsoft Office
Document Imaging be the deffault program for opening *.TIF files. Why this
fixed it, I'm not sure, but now it is fixed and I hope this will help someone
    else with a sinilar problem.

By the way, almost EVERY time the program crashed from trying to open the
File menu, I chose to "Send Report" to Microsoft, and I have yet to see a
soloution. I find it hard to believe I am the only one affected by this
    problem.

Oh well, at least I was able to get it working again.

Did the same fix also work on your wife's pc, as you previously stated it too was displaying the same symptoms?
