| IE 7 using outlook: protocol cannot display public folders afterupgrade to Office 2007 We have a little intranet web page hml file that opens an Outlook public folder with this url: outlook://Public%20Folders/All%20Public%20Folders/WTW/WTW%20Conf%20Rm (I can't convince them that lots of spaces are a bad idea). This points to a public (calendar) folder on our Exchange server, This works fine if you have Office 2003 installed, but if you have Office 2007 installed you get this error: "Web Page Cannot be displayed: Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed" It offers to do a web search, but ironically, Microsoft doesn't have any online content referring to the "outlook:" protocol. This is puzzling, did they change the way OL2007 deals with outlook: protocols? So far, I haven't been able to uncover much info on the web about. any ideas would be appreciated. |

| RE: IE 7 using outlook: protocol cannot display public folders after upgrade to Office 2007
Hi Jim, The Outlook protocol (Outlook://) has been changed in Outlook 2007. This protocol will only work when you use it in Outlook 2007. You can use this protocol on a folder home page, on the Web toolbar, or in the body of an Outlook item. There is no workaround for opening a calendar directly like that outside of the Outlook application. The Outlook:// protocol exposed too many security risks and has been removed as a registered method for use outside the Outlook application. It can still be used if launched from within Outlook though if needed. Thanks for the information. Looks like some redesign is in order. Emily Lin wrote: > Hi Jim, > > The Outlook protocol (Outlook://) has been changed in Outlook 2007.
