PowerPoint 2007 character spacing problem

I am facing some problems with PowerPoint 2007 on my XP desktop. Actually the characters space between two characters increases uncommonly in PowerPoint. When I try to edit and correct the same it even wont allow me to edit through "Fonts-> Character Spacing". Surprisingly when I copied the same to my laptop and opened in PowerPoint, here it works with normal character space.

I’m not able to fix this problem because I am not getting exactly what is wrong. Somebody please help.

I have the same problem,
I did these

1.-Reinstall Office 2007
2.-Remove and erase complety with Revo Uninstaller in advance mode and install office again
3.-Install another dition of office

and non

This problem was solved by changing the default printer settings. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks a lot, got it, just change your default printer and your problem will be solved.
Also applicable in office 2010.
