Outlook 2003 - Cannot open Email Attachments

I am using Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and Outlook 2003 SP2. Within the past
week I and an associate have lost the capability to open an emails that are
attached to an email. We can open other documents (word, excel, jpg, etc)
but not emails. I have tried turning off antivirus (Trend Micro) and
starting in Safe Mode, with no success. This is occurring on all emails with
emails as attachments.

HI, I was having the same problem and found this answer on another message
board. Just uninstall google desktop 5.5 for now. it worked for me. if you
really use the google desktop a lot, it was suggested to reinstall a previous
version, version 5.1.
I was having this problem. Just found this post:

Turns out my user was having problems with Google Desktop Search
yesterday, so he uninstalled the version we install and went and
downloaded the latest version. Removed the version he installed and
suddenly the Outlook problem went away. Reverted him to the approved
version of GDS and that problem went away too.
