Microsoft Office Document Scanning & Imaging Issues

When I am tying to scan a document then both the Microsoft Office Document Scanning & Imaging fail. Even though both tools will launch and run properly from the Start button and Document Imaging will launch and run properly whenever a .tif file is accessed but still both utilities output failure reports and close whenever trying to scan. I have checked that all other scanner applications like Word, Corel, etc run without any problems. This problem started after following the installation of Office 2003 SP3. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks

I am using Lexmark scanner with Office 2003 SP3 via MS Office Document Scanning 2003 and dont have any of that issues. When you are opening the document scanning app and creating a new preset, then will it scan properly. Do you use the Twain driver for the scanner or you are using an Automatic Document Feeder for the scanner?

Even I was having the same issue with Office 2003 after applying Service Pack 3 and Microsoft Office Document Scanning used to crash when pressing the scan button. I found out from somewhere that the issue is with the length of the name of the scanner that was "Hewlett-Packard Officehet R40 Scanner". I renamed this device to "HP Officejet Scanner R40" and this solved the issue.
