Microsoft Word + Excel 2003 - very slow to open..

I am having too many problems with Word and Excel 2003 recently, if I have a document on my desktop and I double click a file, then it will take 40 seconds for the file to open. But when I open Word, and select the file to open, then it will open in seconds. I am also getting the same problem if I get an email with an attachment, it takes too much time to open. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, I had that problem before in Office XP. All I did was repair the installation of Office. You know, Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Microsoft Office -> Configure .

If that doesn't work (or I'm wrong about my directions), try uninstalling and reinstalling office. If Office came on your computer, you'll probably need the last of your install CDs.
