How can I open odt files in Office 2007?

I am using Office 2003 at my place and I have been given OpenOffice ar work. I have emailed some .odt files at my place so that I can do some work, but when I am trying to open it, then it wont open? So, I am thinking that I must download the Openoffice for it, isnt it? Thanks

I do not think that format might work on Office. You can simply right click on that and choose open with. There are two options you can try here. First is notepad and the second is word pad. If the file opens in both app then the next thing you can do is try to open with Word. If nothing works then you will need to download a odt viewer from the web. You can use that to view the file content.
