    Check the temp environment variable

I have office 2007 on a new Toshiba laptop with Vista operating system. I get the error message on most word documents and when I open some emails "Outlook or Word, could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable". I have installed every Windows Update but it doesnt work. This is a new computer and my desktop uses the same OS and Outlook 2007 but doesnt have this issue? I have already tried to reinstall Office but it does not help as well. Any ideas?

RE: Check the temp environment variable

You can try to change the location for the Temporary Internet Files folder for Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
    2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the General tab.
    3. In the Browsing history section, click Settings.
    4. In the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box, click Move Folder.
    5. In the Browse for Folder dialog box, select the following location: <Drive:>\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files.
    6. Note AppData is a hidden folder. To show hidden files and folders, visit the following website: Show hidden files
    7. Click OK to close the open dialog boxes.
    8. Restart the computer.
