The Word 2003 that I was using was in standard setting and was also in everything as inches like for margins, ruler, etc, but now it shows everything in PT (point). How can I change it back? Thanks.

It might be that you cannot change ruler measurement unit from character units after upgrade to Office XP, so to solve this issue, follow the workaround given on this website - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299339
