| email icon greyed out in Office Home and Student 97
Installed Vista Home and Office Home and Student software on my computer. I tried to send out a word document to a friend through microsoft mail, but can't because the email icon is greyed out under the send to menu. I am using Vista's Mail not outlook. Also; Can any one tell me why the headers in this suite states non commercial use, this is a retail version I purchased and is activated but I am unable to acces the web from inside the programs. |

The Home and Student edition is only licensed for non-commercial use. But the other question is : Is Windows Mail and Home and Student edition compatable? It certainly should be. |

I have a similar problem. E-mail option is greyed out in all products in Office Home and Student 2007. I can't send documents. The e-mail client I am using is Windows Live mail desktop version. Can anyone help. |

Home and student versions are for non-commercial use, e.g., you can't run a business with this software as that is not something a home user or student user would need. Ever wonder why the license for this version is so low and allows 3 installs? Now you know. Last edited by FReakMaster : 06-05-2008 at 05:06 PM. |

Sorry. I was unclear. I meant how non-employee members of clubs like Rotary perform tasks for the other members' and the outside communities' benefit. Non-employee club members using their own PCs to do things for their club on a unremunerated basis DOES constitute noncommercial use, at least in the US. Unremunerated board members and officers would be a gray area, but even MSFT would be wary about going after such people. I do think a rather large number of Home & Student licensees would be surprised to learn that they were banned by their license terms from writing, say, a PTA meeting agenda that they could share with other PTA members at that meeting. |

I had the exact same issue with Vista as my OS, Windows Mail and 2007 Student Office. I followed the thread until I found this one- it worked, wasn't complicated and didn't ask me to do weird things I didn't understand .. This fix worked. 1. Quit your Office programs, please click on the following link to download the Messaging_registry.reg file to your desktop. http://officetoolsdown.googlepages.c...g_registry.reg 2. Double click on this Messaging_registry.Reg file to import the registry. When you are asked whether you want to import the registry, click Yes. 3. Start Office programs like Word/Excel to check whether the E-mail icon is useable. |

My computer came with the Home/Student trial version in 2007; Today in 2009, I purchased and installed the retail Full Version of Office Small Business 2007. My programs all show "non-commercial use". Do I need to uninstall the student version first? |

Uninstall any and all version of Office via Add/Remove, together with the Activation Assistant, reboot the PC. Install office from cd/dvd |

I had to clean install Vista and I had to figure out how to email from office word 2007 home and student using windows mail. There are quite a few fixes on the internet with some tweeking registry, etc. I finally found a simple answer which actually gives me a different look than I had before, but works great. #1. Open Word #2. Right click on tool bar #3. Chose Customize Quick Access #4. On the chose Commands drop down... #5. click All Commands #6. then chose Send To Mail Recipient Good Luck!! |
