Office 2007, change language

Hello, I have recently purchased Office 2007 Professional here in Germany.
However, German isn't my mother tongue and I would prefer this in English. I
have read endless pages on microsoft.com how easy it is to change over fully
to another language by downloading the language pack of choice. However,
nowhere can I find an actually link to downloading or buying such a language
pack.

If anyone knows where I can buy or download (legally) an English language
pack for Office 2007 Professional, please let me know here. I am at quite a
loss when using this whole new layout in German.

See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/su...113691033.aspx
"Microsoft Office Multi-Language Pack 2007 frequently asked questions".
Individual language packs are not available yet, but should be in a
few months. Out of curiosity, why did you buy a German version if you
knew you wanted an English version?

Re: Office 2007, change language

Thanks for your help. I guess I will just have to wait then.

Anyway, what you ask is a good question, but so is my answer. I'm British,
but working here in Germany at the moment, one of the great things about the
European Union, where we can live and work anywhere in the EU as if it was
one country. Anyway, my German language skills is there, but not great.

However, I was offered entry to the Vista launch conference, and it cost
€200. For that price I also got the full version of Vista Ultimate, and
Office 2007 professional thrown in for free. Great deal as you can imagine,
so I took it.

That's how I ended up with the German versions. I asked if they could send
to me in English, but they couldn't, and when I found out you could change
the language, I thought no worries anyway.

German Language Pack availability, etc?

Hi Garfield-n-odie,

How will we know when the language packs become available? I've posted some
stuff on other forums but in hopes of getting your response I'll copy it back
here too.

I'm trying to incorporate the German Spell Checker, Grammtical checker,
Thesaurus, etc. into my recently updated computer. Research indicates
Microsoft releases localized versions over a period of several months
following the initial release of its products. The first Single Language
Packs will be available for purchase in March 2007.

Since I'm an end user I'll probably install using Language Pack Setup Tool
(Lpksetup.exe)

My questions are:

1. Is incorporating the German Language Pack when it becomes available the
same as having the full-blown German version of Word/Office2007?

2. I see Office Language Pack 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh is available,
but I imagine this is not suitable for me as my system was installed by Dell
and is not likely to be a Beta version. Is this corrrect? Does this mean
that I have to wait till Microsoft releases the language pack in March? If
so, how will I know when it becomes available? I signed up for Windows Live
ID. Should I still check the MS download site daily? Will it cost me ~ $25
to download this as an add-in?

3. If I understand thing correctly the language pack not only enables spell
checking, etc. but also potentially tailors the complete interface to your
sought after region. Does that mean all the menus, help, etc will
automatically be converted to, in my case, German? Is going back and forth
between two languages including all these differences smooth and easy?

I'm not that computer saavy or confident in making all these necessary
changes. I offer a hearty thank you in advance to you, Garfield, for helping
me out.

Taylor

Hi there,

Ok, I can find the language packs for 37 different languages, except
English. Can someone please show me where the English language pack is?

RE: Office 2007, change language

According to Microsoft you should already have it on your PC, all editions
sold contain the Enlish version. Thuss there is no english package needed:

"Vielen Dank, dass Sie den Microsoft Office Online-Shop besuchen.

Alle Microsoft Office Versionen haben bei jeder Sprache zusätzlich Englisch
als Auswahlmöglichkeit. Wenn Sie Unterstützung bei der Freischaltung
benötigen, kontaktieren Sie bitte den technischsen Support von Microsoft.
Diesen erreichen Sie über nachstehenden Link:

but still in my (german) version I don't find no way of changing the german
to english...

There is no such language pack. Microsoft is not providing one for
English.

RE: Office 2007, change language

I would interpret this as meaning English as proofing language, which is
included in all Office versions.

RE: Office 2007, change language

Why is Microsoft not providing an English language pack? It seems to be
explictiy stated in a number of places on the MS web-sites that an English
Language Pack is / will be available, and that installing a localised office
2007 and then adding the English LP is one possible rollout option (the one
that I was convinced to take after reading this). So I also need this office
2007 english language pack - surely it cannot be difficult to get this with
the new modular language handling as described in technet?

Re: Office 2007, change language

Hi Bestie,

There isn't a separately purchasable MS Office 2007 English Language Pack (Proofing tools plus English UI). The English UI and
Proofing tools will be included as part of the MS Office Multi Language Pack that should, hopefully, appear sometime soon. You will
be able to deploy individual language choices from the MLP as has been in the case in prior editions. For Office 2007 the
Multilanguage pack will be sold both to volume license users and through retail channels. In the past it was only available to
volume license users and it was applied to the base English Language Enterprise versions previously.

Re: Office 2007, change language

Hi Bob

Thanks for the answer - main problem for most people in the same position I
think is cost. So 30€ for 37 other single langauge packs, but maybe 200€ for
the multi-language pack just to get english. And all becuase of a few
misleading MS web pages. Doesn't seem right or logical really :-(
