The Data file mailbox "user" was not closed properly.

I have Outlook 2003 installed on my XP laptop and it worked fine but somehow
my (Server) user profile was corrupt after and is now ok but I am getting a
error messga each time I start my laptop in the morning and it takes 20 to 30
minutes to load my emails in Outlook 2003. I get following message

The Data file Mailbox "User Name" was not closed properly.
This file is being checked

Can anyone say what will I have to do to solve this problem.

Are you connecting to an Exchange server in cached mode?
What caused you to believe your profile was corrupt, and what did you do to
fix it?

Thanks for your prompt response.

Yes I am connecting to Exchane Server in Cached mode.

Due virus my user profile was corrupted. When I tried to login to my
computer using user id, pswd and domain it was considering me as Temp user on
my laptop and I need to set all my setting each time I login to laptop so I
removed my profile from Document setting and when I login to aging it creatd
my new profile and I am ok now. But I get this problem when I try to open my
Otulook each time.

Did you/your admin entirely remove your old user profile from Windows (in
control panel, system....not in Explorer!) while logged in as another admin
account? (I am presuming that you did *not* use your profile folders to
store data).
Then did you log in to create a new profile, and configure everything as you
needed to, including your Outlook cache (it should create a new OST file)?

This really needs to be taken to an XP group, as it is not an Office issue.
Thanks.

Re: The Data file mailbox "user" was not closed properly.

Thanks for your prompt response. Greatly appreciated.

However problem is solved itself now as I turn logoff and login back and
turn off the computer completely and turn back on and I don't get any errors
and it works fine.

Thanks for your time.

Data File "Mailbox-user" was not closed properly. This file is being checked.

Error: The Data file Mailbox "User Name" was not closed properly.
This file is being checked.

Background: Lenovo T60 Laptop, WinXP Pro, Outlook operating in cached account mode (disabling cache mode will fix the problem, but is not an option) on a 2003 Exchange server.

I have verified there are no programs trying to index Outlook and therefore shouldn't be causing it to hang. This is happening to 3 seperate users at various times. Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: The Data file mailbox "user" was not closed properly.

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.
