| Tiff Filter in Office 2003 - missing
The Tiff filter (tiffim32.flt) no longer seems to be available in office 2003. Its not an option when installing, its not in the Conversion Pack. Other than converting all tiffs to one of the supported filters (jpg, gif, cdr, etc.) is there any other way to display a tiff file in an image control (in Access)? Currently my image control is linked to either a jpg or tif. Also, why did they take it out? |

Hi Wade, TIFF is is a built in filter in Office XP and Office 2003 rather than a separate .FLT file as in prior versions. MS Office document imaging (optional install) but if you have the older version of the filter you may be able to add it to the Filters folder, however you may want to check with the folks in the MS Office Access newsgroup (link below) ======= <<"Wade" <wnederveld@preinnewhofdonotreply.com> wrote in message news:u3l5dvTkFHA.3380@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... | Re: Tiff Filter in Office 2003 - missing
Thanks for the reply, Just FYI (and a little background), I have an image control on a form that is linked (as opposed to embedded) to either a tif file or jpg file (i.e. the "Picture" property of the control is set to "C:\image.tif" or "C:\image.jpg") and if the control is linked to a tif file (doesn't matter what the size of the tif file is - even as small as 35K) I receive the message "Microsoft Office Access doesn't support the format of the file 'filename.tif,' or file is too large. Try converting the file to BMP or GIF format.". But if the control is linked to a jpg (I've used jpg files as large as 2MB) everything works fine. If I convert the tif file to a jpg, everything works. But merely copying the flt filter from an Office XP installation (tiffim32.flt) to the Filters folder (c:\program files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt) where the other filters are, still doesn't allow the tif file to be viewable in Access 2003. Again I thank you for your reply and I'll post at the news groups you suggested to see if anyone there knows why... 1. MS took this functionality out of the image control in Access 2003? 2. Other than converting to a supported file format, is there any way to view a tif image in an image control in Access 2003? | Re: Tiff Filter in Office 2003 - missing
Hi Wade, To 'activate' one of the graphic filters turn on Confirm Conversions on open in Tools=>Options=>General in Word then use insert Picture from file and test on one of the same TIF files. Sometimes a restart will be required when you're adding an external filter that Office expects to work internally. Also it can depend on the TIFF file itself. It it's scanned, for example and it's 48 bit then it may not work with the Office filters. Still a good idea though to post MS Access specific queries in that newsgroup (see link in previous message). ======== <<"Wade" <wnederveld@preinnewhofdonotreply.com> wrote in message news:OBi6UxqkFHA.576@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl...
