| Finding SBERET.MSI on CD
After I installed a upgraded version of Windows XP Home from Windows 98, I can not open Micrsoft word without XP trying to set up Office XP everytime. The file that is missing to complete this task is SBERET.MSI. I put in my Office XP cd like Microsoft ask and the error message I get is "Can not find file need to complete this task". After all this Microsoft Word will open up and I can work on my files. Please help. :( |

| Re: Finding SBERET.MSI on CD
The Windows Installer is looking for a file that is missing or corrupt. It can be caused by several things, but to correct it you will need to zap the Windows Installer entry in the Registry and reinstall Office. Obtain the following utility and use it to remove only the reference to Office. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall Office to point the Windows Installer to your installation CD: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290301 Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup.
