Visio viewer failing to open files

    Hi,

I can't seem to get Visio files opening on our PCs despite following a lot of troubleshooting information on the subject.

I started with Visio Viewer 2003 but tried 2010 when that failed to work.

When the document tries to open in internet explorer it gives a blank page with the message "Done" in the bottom left corner of the application window. I made sure that the allow active content option was selected in IE.

I checked and KB973525 doesn't appear to be installed on the PC
We use IE 7 which is supported for the viewer but I tried upgrading to IE 8 and I get the same problem.

Any suggestions on how to get this working?

Right click on the visio files and see that they are not locked. You can see that by right clicking > properties. In the security check that the file is not locked. There is one more option which can help you to allow active content work on your browser. For that go in Tools > Internet Options > Advance and below in the security option click on allow active content to run in files on my computer.

That was one of the solutions I found in my browsing but when I right click on the file and check the properties I can't find a checkbox to do with the file being locked.

Active content is already being allowed to run in the IE settings.

The issue that you are facing might be if the following conditions are true:
    1. Microsoft Visio Viewer Web Component was installed on the computer before you installed Visio Viewer 2003.
    2. Some of the file associations were not removed when Microsoft Visio Viewer Web Component was removed.

To troubleshoot the same follow the solution given in this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910349

I checked and Microsoft Visio Viewer Web Component wasn't installed.

I ran the registry changes anyway but it didn't help - It gives a red x in the top left corner
