The office temp files are not deleted after saving files in Excel 2003

When saving file, Xcel generates .tmp file xls.~RFe17931.TMP in same folder with the .xls file. Can manually delete, but if I open the file and save again, it generates another .tmp file with different name (of course) RFe4f49c.TMP. My question is why is the .TMP not automatically deleted. This only happens in two sub folders containing Xcel files and no other folders which contain Xcel files.

It is not Excel because of which you are facing this issue. It is because of AVG. I had too faced the same. I am just assuming that you are using Avg in your system. One person posted that they saw files that had names like: ~RF26c83af.TMP. It was caused by AVG.

I am facing the same problem as you, but I can't find the solution yet. I had tried a number of steps like disk cleanup and deleting the temp files. But still I can see those files present in the folder. Please let me know if you've got it.
