How to open multiple .ppt files on powerpoint 2007

I am using Office 2007 for the first time. I am not able to open ppt files in that. I am having some projects with me. When I try to open them I found that powerpoint take long time to open and there are many things missing in it. Also I am not allowed to make changes in the presentation files. While other things are working fine.

Try to run the setup once again. I think that would be more beneficial for you. There can be problem with office setup as well as with the files also. IF they are not so old. Just run the setup once again and then check back. I think that would be more than enough to fix the problem.

Go in the folder where you had kept all the ppt files. In that select all of them and then hit enter from your keyboard. If there is no problem with powerpoint or any files in your system then it will launch properly. There will be no issue with the same. Sometime due to lots of slide, graphics and objects in powerpoint you can find the performance extremely slow. It can take time depending on the size of file you are trying to open.

I'm not sure if you have had any education on letter writing in the past, so I'll give you a little help.

When making a letter you address the recipient first and then include the contents of what you want to convey. Let's take for instance the below:

Any particular reason you are posting to a thread that expired over 6
months ago? Perhaps it's because you are posting to a site that
attempts to pose as some kind of technical forum but merely leeches off
    the Microsoft Newsserver?

Err this is NOT "letter" writing.

    An example.

Answer = 186,000 miles per second.

Question - what is the speed of light?

    See?

Do you read a book from the bottom up?

What a response from each of you; you both must be so smart to have outwitted me on this post. Let me address both of your comments.

Bob’s Comment – “Any particular reason you are posting to a thread that expired over 6 months ago? Perhaps it's because you are posting to a site that attempts to pose as some kind of technical forum but merely leeches off the Microsoft Newsserver?”

My Response – Obviously you thought it was a good idea to replay to a thread that has “expired over 6 months ago.” Good job genius!!!!!

Gordon’s Comment – “Err this is NOT "letter" writing. An example. Answer = 186,000 miles per second. Question - what is the speed of light? See? Do you read a book from the bottom up?”

My Response – So if your argument is correct and we believe that this is not a letter, than I never needed to call out to whom the reply was directed. If I never needed to call out the person I replied to, than you had no justification for your original comment; “To whom are you talking and about what?” At-a-boy genius!!!!!

Summary – I would surmise that if the post regarded .ppt issues and the comment regarded that same .ppt issue, that any posted comments would be pertain to that original question posted.

Tweedledee and Tweedledum, it’s been fun. Maybe you’ll be the ones who disprove Darwin’s theory of evolution and manage to survive and reproduce. (God help us all if that happens.)

    P.S.
If you don’t know who I’m referring to when I say “Tweedledee and Tweedledum,” than just go back to your surfing porn and leave this post alone.

Re: Help: Office 2007 Powerpoint - how to open multiple .ppt files??

Powerpoint 2007 does not open in separate instances normally, but here is a work around if it is really important to you.

You first need to create another account (with password) on the computer and log into it just so that it is fully created. After that you just log out of it. You won’t need to log into it again.

Then you need to go to start > run > and type in:
    runas /user:otheraccountname "c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\POWERPNT.EXE"
the user:otheraccountname will be user:XXXX whatever the other account it named.

A dos window will pop up and ask for the password. Input it. It will not show any letters typed so make sure it is easy to type.

Then another instance of the program will open up on your screen. This one you can move to the other monitor. When you save the file it will default to the “other account” as default -- just choose the “main” user account and location or … change the default save location in the advanced properties of that instance of ppt.

I hope that this is easy enough.

If you want to make it easy to do this you can create a “batch” file that you can put on the desktop that can be clicked to automatically open this.
    This is done in “notepad”
    Code as follows:

    cmd.exe /c
    runas /user:otheraccountname "c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\POWERPNT.EXE"

then save this as “whatever you want.bat” to the desktop.

Now you can just click that and it will open the other instance.

re: How to open multiple .ppt files on powerpoint 2007

I realize this is an old thread, but I wanted to take a minute to thank you...your advice worked for me and I was going CRAZY trying to open 2 instances at once while I was re-writing a presentation. Very, very helpful and very much appreciated!!!
