A prominent reason for this phenomenon is the installation of Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker. He deposited add-in templates in Microsoft Office Excel startup directory or startup directory. The problem also occurs when the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in attempts to scan the objects in the startup directories. To avoid this problem, disable the AntiVirus Office plug-in, before you start Excel.

Check that did the file in Windows Directory > Program Files > Microsoft Office > Office 12 > XLSTART > PDFMaker deleted. Now everything is working again. There is a file called as PDFMOfficeAddin.dll. If this file is missing then the error appears usually. You might need to either re-install the program or just download the file and put it back again on the same place.
