How to fix Microsoft Excel error: 0xc0000005

One of my customer was facing this problem. Every time i open an Excel file the software freezes and i get an error code: 0xc0000005. This makes my work very hard, since if i have any excel file already open, then it will close down without saving. I also ran Microsoft Excel Help and then choose Detect and Repair. Also selected the options to 'Discard my customized settings and restore default settings' but that didnt work either. So can anyone please help me out? Thanks

The issue can be due to the following faulty file and replacing them will fix it. The files are MSVCR90.dll, MSO.dll and EXCEL.EXE. You can try to run a repair setup from Office installation disc or just re-install it directly. Second thing is try to run Windows update. There is a option when Excel crashes and it asks you to sent crash report to Microsoft so that they can send you proper update for the issue.

The three files can be responsible. You must know among them which file cause that. The MSVCR90.dll handles Visual Studio. The error can be due to some customization done on Microsoft office. Second the MSO.dll is associated with with Office XP/2002. It is correct that if you run proper updates the error will not appear at all. You must try to run Excel in safe mode.
