What is the file extension. Is it xlsm. In Excel 2007 Red ! denotes that the workbook has macros in it and the extension is xlsm. I don't think you get Red ! in Excel 2003.
It serves as a reference to a cell outside the sheet you are working, but within the same book. If you work in section 2, but you need to locate a cell the values contained in a given cell of the sheet 1, type = sheet1! A5, for example, then moved to your cell excel sheet 2 the value in cell A5 Sheet 1.
