Access 2010 file in Access 2007 gives Unrecognized Database Format

I have created a new database for the Customers in Microsoft Access 2010. Now my machine has a default format for Access 2007 where I am gonna use this database. So I have saved it as an accdb. Now the problem is when I am trying to open this database file from the Microsoft Access 2010 then it is not working. It says that "Unrecognized database format". What is the compatibility issue between Access 2007 and 2010. How can I solve this issue?

I don't think that there would be any kind of compatibility issue with both the versions of the Microsoft Access for running the same file format generated by them. As Microsoft must have considered the situation when user will run the files created by the one version of Access on another one. So it becomes tedious job for the developers that it should be working. I guess the problem would be with the file which you are trying to run on your machine or the data saved in it which might have got corrupted. I have an idea for checking this issue. I guess you should create one more blank file in the Access 2010 and then check that it gets read by Access 2007 or not. It must be working according to my judgment.

I have seen such problem on my windows machine when I was having MS Access 2007 on my new laptop. Actually files created on my desktop which has MS Access 2010 never showed any problem for opening it on my laptop. One day I got the same error as you have got on your machine which has Access 2007. Actually it seems like the problem seems to be arriving whenever you do Compact and Repair Database in Access 2010. As I have tried all the criteria which didn't show me such problem but only repairing or compacting database showed me the same problem. I guess you must be doing the same.

Apart from using the Compact and Repair in Access 2010, I have noticed the problem by having "Empty Cells" in Forms also. In Access 2007, you would be able to apply Layouts to group your controls also via Tabular or Stacked whereas in Access 2010, these Layouts have a bit extra functionality. So this issue can be caused due to the extra features provided in Access 2010 which are not on Access 2007. For Example suppose you are having a multiple columns in a Stacked Layout, now your controls can therefore be grouped into a kind of Table. Not each Cell in this Layout Table desires to be packed; there can be Empty Cells as well. I have seen such issue while having myself in your position.
